Houston Child Support Attorneys
Do You Need Help with a Child Support Issue?
If you have been awarded primary custody of your children, you may be entitled to receive child support payments from the other, non-custodial parent. Conversely, if you have been awarded shared custody or visitation rights, you may be obligated to provide support. In Texas, both parents are responsible for their child's care and well-being, regardless of their marital status.
At Boudreaux Hunter & Associates, LLC, we help parents resolve the complex issues that come along with divorce, including the matters of child custody and support. We know you may be going through one of the most difficult times in your life, but with us by your side, you can rest easier knowing that you have a team of compassionate legal professionals advocating for your rights.

How Are Child Support Payments Calculated in Texas?
When parents separate or file for divorce, the court will determine whether or not child support is necessary and, if so, in what amount. This figure will be calculated using state guidelines, which factor in the non-custodial parent's gross monthly income and the number of children who need support.
Once Social Security withholdings, federal income taxes, and premium costs for the child's medical insurance have been deducted, the paying parent would be left with their "net resource." This figure is then multiplied by a percentage, depending on the number of children they need to support:
- One child: 20%
- Two children: 25%
- Three children: 30%
- Four children: 35%
- Five children: 40%
